The war sparked a wave of support from Western countries for Kiev which saw the flow of aid and weapons in Ukraine to help it resist Russian forces. Speaking to Russian news agencies, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov criticized Kiev’s approach to hinder talks of pace, saying that the risk of a third world war was “serious”. “It’s real, you can’t underestimate it,” she added.
While stressing that Moscow will continue the talks of pace with Kiev, Lavrov accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of “pretending” to negotiate, adding: “He is a good actor . If you look carefully and read carefully what he says, you will find a thousand contradictions”. Zelensky asked Western countries for months to supply him with heavy weapons, including artillery and fighter jets, noting that his forces can reverse the course of the war if they receive more weapons.
