The Russian company Gazprom announced on Tuesday that it will reduce gas supplies to Moldova via Ukraine, starting next Monday.
Russia’s Gazprom said gas transit through Austria was suspended after the Austrian gas grid operator refused to confirm gas transit appointments.
In a statement posted to Telegram, Gazprom attributed the problem to regulatory changes in Austria and said it is working with Italian customers to resolve the issue.
Moscow and several European countries, including Germany, are in disagreement over natural gas supplies from Russia since the invasion of Ukraine in February.
The EU says Moscow is using energy supplies, including gas, as an economic weapon, something Russia has consistently denied, blaming the impact of Western sanctions for any supply disruption.
