Russian missiles attack Mykolaiv … dead and wounded

After accusing Moscow of bombing civilian areas and killing dozens of people over the past two days, Kiev has again accused Russian forces of targeting an apartment building in the southern city of Mykolaiv.

And local city authorities said at least three people were killed and five injured in Russian missile strikes today, Wednesday, and indicated they had launched an operation to rescue survivors.

For his part, the mayor of the city, Olskander Senkevich, said that eight missiles hit the city and urged the residents to leave.

Building damage

He added that the building was allegedly hit by a Russian X-55 cruise missile, according to reports by “Reuters”.

The images of the scene showed smoke rising from a four-story building, destroying parts of its upper floor.

In a related context, a child was killed and three people were injured by shrapnel from a “Tochka-O” missile launched by Ukrainian forces towards Nova Kakhovka, according to Moscow.

A child was killed in a Ukrainian attack

Official Russian sources in the Kherson region said Kiev fired four “Tochka-O” missiles at Novaya Kakhovka, noting that Russian air defenses destroyed the missiles and that missile fragments killed a child and injured three civilians.

In recent days, Russian air strikes have intensified in areas relatively distant from eastern Ukraine, after weeks of bitter battles in the Donbass region.

In recent weeks, Russian forces have concentrated shelling and fighting in Lugansk and Donetsk in an attempt to control the entire Donbass basin and open a land corridor between the east and Crimea, which it annexed in 2014.

Moscow denies the allegations

Interestingly, Kiev previously announced that a Russian missile attack deliberately targeted a shopping mall on Monday, killing at least 18 people.

While Moscow denied the bombing of the mall, saying it bombed a nearby American and European weapons depot, which resulted in an explosion that caused a fire in the center.

Since the launch of the Russian military operation on Ukrainian territory, the two sides have exchanged accusations, suffering great human and material losses, amid the expectations that the conflict will prolong and extend months later.
