Russian troops advance from two sides to a new city in the Donbass

Deputy Foreign Minister of the Luhansk People’s Republic Vitaly Kiselyov said that units of the Russian army were attacking the city of Seversk from two directions simultaneously.

“Now the forces are coming (to Seversk) from two directions, especially Artemovsk, and now they are halfway to the city of Seversk,” he told TASS.

He explained that control over the city of Seversk would allow to continue the offensive against the cities of Kramatorsk and Slavyansk.

“The city of Seversk is the key to Kramatorsk and Slavyansk, since today Seversk is a kind of last frontier at the end of the Donbass scenario,” he added.

Last Friday, a source close to the People’s Militia of the Luhansk Republic reported that the liberation of a number of cities and villages of the Donetsk Republic to the south and west-south of Lysekhansk made it possible to attack Seversk.

For his part, the ambassador of the Lugansk Republic to Russia has previously stated that several thousand Ukrainian forces may be in Seversk at the moment, fleeing from Lyshchansk and the road leading to Slavyansk.
