Ajay Devgn will soon be seen on the big screen in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The film marks Ajay’s 100th film in Bollywood. He co-produced the film himself with Bhushan Kumar. Helmed by Om Raut, the film stars Saif Ali Khan in a negative role as Uday Bhan, a Rajput working for the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
Ajay in a recent interview revealed why Saif Ali Khan was perfect for Uday Bhan’s potion in the film. He said, “We wanted someone who could move and represent the character as well as he is at loggerheads with Tanaji. We wanted one that would be naughty and offbeat. The idea was to find an actor with gravitas. Saif was perfect for the role. We got on well with our first film, Kacche Dhaage and then Omkara . We told the script, and he immediately liked it. Even though we haven’t worked together as much as we should [in the past], I’m glad we collaborated on this film. “
He further explained that history textbooks at school did not do this character justice. “The most important thing for me is to see if a story is worth telling or not. Tanhaji was indeed an unknown warrior. The two paragraphs about him at school [textbooks] don’t do it justice, ”he said.
