Salah leads Egypt to victory over Guinea Bissau in the African Nations Championship

Garoua: Egypt’s national team renewed their hopes of qualifying for the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations after beating Guinea-Bissau 1-0 in the match that brought them together today, Saturday, in the second round of the tournament’s Group D in course to be held in Cameroon. The Egyptian team owes this victory to Mohamed Salah, who scored the only goal of the match in the 69th minute. The Egyptian team scored the first three points in the edition in course of the tournament, occupying second place, three points behind the Nigerian team, while Guinea-Bissau’s tally has stopped at one point: one is in third place with a goal difference against Sudan. The Egyptian side lost in the first round to Nigeria with a clean goal, while Guinea-Bissau drew in the first round with their Sudanese counterpart. The Egyptian team will meet Sudan in the third round of the group stage, while Guinea-Bissau will play Nigeria. (Dpa)
