Saudi Arabia comments on the news of its joint bid with Egypt and Greece to host the 2030 World Cup

RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Tourism confirmed today, Wednesday, that the Kingdom has not taken in consider submitting a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup in collaboration with Egypt and Greece. And the ministry said via its official ‘Twitter’ account that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is always interested in hosting major sporting events, as part of the domestic promotion of sport and tourism in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals. The official Saudi denial comes, hours after Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khatib announced that the Kingdom was considering submitting a joint bid to host the World Cup of 2030 in collaboration with Egypt and Greece. Al-Khatib said in statements to the “Bloomberg” agency yesterday, Tuesday: “We are studying an offer with Greece and Egypt to organize the 2030 World Cup and we hope it will be a successful offer. The three countries will certainly invest heavily in infrastructure and it will certainly be ready, and I know that by then the Kingdom will have the most modern stadiums and fan areas.” This happens in one moment in which Saudi Sports Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal revealed that the Kingdom has not submitted any bid to host the World Cup in 2030, revealing the Kingdom’s future plans. Prince Abdulaziz said during statements on CNN while he was with the Saudi national team delegation to the World Cup in Qatar: “We do not have a bid to host the 2030 World Cup yet, but what we are focusing on now is to bid to host the Asian Women’s Cup and the 2026 World Cup.” Asia 2027 for men.
