Saudi Arabia gains membership of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Council.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, has been awarded membership in the Board of Directors of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent for the Asia-Pacific region for a new four-year term, in the elections held at the headquarters of the Federation in the Swiss capital, Geneva, as part of the proceedings of the twenty-third session of the General Assembly of the International Federation.

The commission managed to gain membership after garnering most of the votes from member state delegates, while the union’s current president, Francesco Rocca, won the presidency for a new term that spans four years.

Al-Owaisi – who currently leads the Authority’s delegation participating in the work of the Geneva General Assembly – explained that the Saudi Red Crescent Authority has always wanted to be an active and influential member within the International Federation of the Cross.
