Saudi energy minister on strained relations with Washington: We decided to be mature

Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said the kingdom had decided to deal with “maturity” over tensions between Riyadh and Washington following a dispute over the OPEC+ group’s decision to cut production.

Asked about getting relations between Riyadh and Washington back on track, the Saudi Energy Minister said during his attendance at the Future Investment Initiative conference in Riyadh, “We in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have made the decision to be mature.”

He added that Riyadh is in communication with a number of European governments about the current crisis. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman stressed that Saudi Arabia will be a supplier to all who need it.

It comes amid a dispute between Riyadh and Washington following the OPEC+ decision to cut oil production by two million bpd from November next year as the US threatens to reassess its relationship with Saudi Arabia as a result of the decision, which the White House called ” coordinated with Russia.
