Say Goodbye to Touch Screen Grime

GM’s patent process could be a breakthrough in the automotive industry, as it would allow for touch screens to be fingerprint and smudge-free without the need for a human to manually clean them. The process works by using light from micro-LEDs, which are invisible to the eye but can react with a photocatalyst built into the coating of the display. This reaction erases any smudges on a screen by drawing on water found in the air. What’s unique about this process is that it works in low light conditions, such as at night or behind tinted glass. GM has not yet said when or if this technology will be implemented in its vehicles, or how consumers might benefit from it in the future. However, this patent process could be a major breakthrough in the automotive industry, as it would allow for touch screens to be kept clean without the need for manual cleaning.
