The Argentine Football Federation has announced the extension of Lionel Scaloni’s contract as coach of the national team until the 2026 World Cup. Scaloni led Argentina to victory in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2021 South American Cup of Nations, and is now set to lead the team in the 2026 World Cup in North America. Scaloni is a former player of several clubs, and was nominated for the World’s Best Manager award in 2022 alongside Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid and Pep Guardiola of Manchester City. This extension of Scaloni’s contract will ensure that Argentina has a coach with a proven record of success leading the team as they look to build on their recent successes.
