Scientists warn against eating red meat

Scientists from Tufts University’s School of Nutrition and Politics and a laboratory at Cleveland Hospital have announced that eating red meat can lead to cardiovascular problems.

The journal Arteriosclerosis Thrombosis and Vascular Biology reports that eating red meat increases the risk of developing fatal cardiovascular disease.

Researchers have studied the relationship between eating animal products and the risk of developing atherosclerosis, which includes myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, stroke and other vascular diseases.

The results of the study are intended to confirm that eating large amounts of lightly processed red meat increases the risk of developing atherosclerosis by 15 percent, and eating various animal products by 18 percent.

The researchers note that they have not found a link between the consumption of poultry, fish and eggs and these diseases.
