Screenwriter Kanika Dhillon criticizes Navjot Gulati for Sexist tweet

Screenwriter Kanika Dhillon called out colleague screenwriter Navjot Gulati for posting a tweet she believed to be sexist.

Navjot is known for writing likes of Jai Mummy Di and Ginny hugs the sun.

In a tweet, he said that the key to mark “the highest bill as a screenwriter” is “to marry in the production house”.

In the tweet of June 11, 2021, Navjot said:

“If you want headliner as screenwriter in a trailer (something that should be the norm) you need marry in production house.

“Once the writer becomes a family member is treated like an actor-star. #Goals. “

Kanika Dhillon was not happy with the comments and criticized Navjot, claiming that his comments were sexist and that he had a “brain the size of a pea”.

She answered:

“Hi @Navjotalive, I am quite shocked by your extreme SEXIST – MISOGYNIST and limit on IDIOT comment.

” Me neither list down my body of work because ton pea-sized brain will not be able to process a successful woman by doing so on her own!

“You can have a frozen brain! Have a good day.”

In a separate tweet, she continued: “And Mr. @Navjotalive because of writers like YOU – who display their STUPIDITY on something that should to be applauded as a welcome step speak writing brotherhood – other very deserving writers are not headlining as is their right – shame on you! “

Kanika quickly received support by Taapsee Pannu.

Taapsee, who is known for talk about various social issues, said:

“A progressive call to credit a writer turned into a sexist rant by secular misogyny of credit a woman success at house she is getting married in or the man she married.

“Your fair call for equal credit cannot be overcome by bitterness in you. “

Navjot’s tweet has arrived on the same day the trailer for Haseen Dillruba has been freed.

Since Kanika received high billing for the movie and Navjot’s tweet came on on the day of the trailer’s release, this suggests the tweet was directed to Kanika.

The film met featured Taapsee and was written by Kanika Dhillon.

It’s a thriller that follows a love triangle murder mystery. It is set release on Netflix on July 2, 2021.

Kanika wrote the likes of Kedarnath and Judgment all Hai Kya.
