Security Council recommends extending UN Secretary General Guterres for a second term

The UN Security Council agreed on Tuesday that Antonio Guterres, 72, will take over the United Nations Secretariat for a second term between 2022 and 2026.

The former Portuguese Prime Minister has been in the General Secretariat of the International Organization since January 2017, and no other candidate has dealt with him die second term applied for.
