Shanghai Cooperation Organization economic forum kicks off in Uzbekistan

The second economic forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) started in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, and will last for two days (August 16 and 17).

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan to the Russian Interfax agency.

“The Economic Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held, which is designed to become an effective platform not only for establishing interstate dialogue, but also for interaction between representatives of the business community, as well as attracting investors to the economy of the organization,” the ministry said in a statement.

The program of the event includes a plenary session, discussion sessions and bilateral meetings designed to unleash the potential of the digital economy, green technologies, interregional cooperation, building investment cooperation, industrial cooperation and other priority areas.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a Eurasian international organization in the field of politics, economics and security. It was founded on June 15, 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of six countries: China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The Charter of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was signed in June 2002 and entered into force on September 19, 2003.
