Shazam: Fury of the Gods TV spot spoils big cameo appearance

In a strange move by Warner Bros.’s marketing team, a new TV spot for Shazam: Fury of the Gods reveals a big cameo. CBR talks about the TV spot spoiler and how director David F. Sandberg feels about it (although they also put the spoiler in the URL, so tread carefully).

Even though James Gunn and Peter Safran are in charge of a 10-year plan to change and reinvent the DC Film universe, some sequels to existing franchises, like Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Flash, are still set to come out. But Shazam: Fury of the Gods is coming out later this month, and advertising has already started. This includes at least one TV spot that ruins a cameo appearance that would have made some fans happy and gotten applause in the theatre. It might still happen, depending on who has seen the ad.

In one of the TV spots for the movie, Wonder Woman, played again by Gal Gadot, appears to help Shazam out of a jam, and they have a long conversation about it. This is an official clip that has yet to be leaked. David F. Sandberg, who makes the Shazam movies, talked about this on Twitter. He said, “Well, some big Shazam spoilers are out there now. If you want to start over, you might not want to be on the Internet or watch TV with ads… In general, it’s pretty good advice.”

Zachary Levi, who plays the lead in the movie, would quote the director’s tweet and back it up with a simple “THISSSSSS!” One of the best things about a shared universe is that characters can appear in more than one movie, and these sequels usually take advantage of this when they can. Fans will be sad because this may be the last time we see Gal Gadot in the role after she has played Wonder Woman in four movies. Plans for a third Wonder Woman movie fell through because of the fuss over Patty Jenkins’s decision to leave the project.
