Snapchat rolls out features that let you support your team at the World Cup

Snapchat has launched a number of new features and experiences in view of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, aiming to allow users to show support for their teams and keep up with the tournament.

The novelties of the short video sharing service can be summarized by allowing users by default to wear the sports uniforms of their teams, and to dress their virtual “Bitmoji” characters in that uniform, as well as watch the highlights matches and other features.

Snapchat has partnered with Adidas to allow users to dress their Bitmoji characters in team uniforms, as well as access official team stickers and filters to decorate their snaps.

Snapchat Discover, the app’s curated content platform, will post highlights, goals, player interviews, match analysis and behind-the-scenes content during the tournament in over 30 countries.

And Spotlight, the entertainment platform inSnapchat’s UGC app, users in the United States will be able to send Snaps for a chance to win prizes in money for creating high performance shots using specific lenses or sounds or subject matter.

Additionally, the Snap Map will feature curated stories of fans watching and celebrating their team during matches.

And users will be able to click on specific places to see snapshots shared with everyone. Stories will include party footage, fan experiences, reactions in the stands and match highlights.
