Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Portuguese veteran Cristiano Ronaldo can continue playing at the highest level until his 40th birthday.
Ronaldo has scored 4 goals since returning to his ex club from Juventus last August after an absence of 12 years.
Solskjaer praised 36-year-old Ronaldo’s exceptional fitness, who last week became the highest paid player in the world, overtaking famous Argentine Lionel Messi.
And before United’s match with his host Aston Villa in the English Premier League on Saturday, Solskjaer said: “It won’t be a surprise to me if he continues to play until he is 40, the way in which takes care of itself is the basis for this, and it is definitely the basis in all with some genetic factors, he has used all his physical energies to reach the level he currently enjoys.
Ronaldo has been crowned best player in the world 5 times and the Norwegian manager has indicated that Ronaldo is still eager to win more titles and awards as he always has been.
Solskjaer added: “Ronaldo will continue to play as long as he is physically and mentally in able to do so “.
