Somalia … a major explosion against the headquarters of the Ministry of Education in Mogadishu

Today, Saturday, the Al-Arabiya correspondent reported hearing a huge explosion in the Somali capital, noting that a huge explosion targeted the Ministry of Education headquarters in Mogadishu.

Our correspondent added that a shooting took place near the Sobi intersection in the capital.

Government officials killed

Somali authorities announced on 3 October that at least 11 people, including government officials, were killed in a suicide bombing with aauto in the center of the country.

For its part, the Somali movement “Al-Shabab” – at the time – claimed responsibility for the two suicide bombings, according to a statement published on the site web “Somali Memo” affiliated with it.

In this context, Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi condemned the two suicide bombings, noting that “they reflect the extent of the terrorists’ determination to shed more blood than the people”.

Senior leader of al-Shabab killed

These attacks occurred after the Somali government announced the killing of an important leader of the “Al-Shabab” movement, Abdullah Nazir, in a security operation in the south of the country.

And the regions of the country are witnessing the security operations conducted by the Somali army against the “Al-Shabab” fighters, with the aim of liberating the areas under the control of the terrorist movement.

Interestingly, Somalia has been fighting a war against Al-Shabab for years, which was founded in early 2004, an armed movement ideologically affiliated with Al-Qaeda, and has adopted numerous terrorist operations that have claimed hundreds of lives.
