Sean Hollister, the reporter testing the $200 controller, says he could only partially test the controller’s battery life. Nor was he able to talk to Sony about it. Instead, the company released a prepared statement on the matter.

In response to concerns about the DualSense Edge controller’s battery life, Sony says it’s only “moderately shorter than the original.”

According to the business, “We’ve added many additional capabilities within the same form factor and ergonomic design as the original DualSense controller. As a result, the DualSense Edge wireless controller’s operation time is moderately shorter than the DualSense wireless controller.” “We aimed to give powerful, high-performance features while maintaining a reasonable balance between wireless operation time. Competitive players who prefer playing with a connected connection to prevent wireless interference will also benefit greatly from the longer USB braided cable. This choice preserves battery life.

As for publishing, there needs to be a mention of the expected battery life for the DualSense Edge. If it’s going to be less than the original DualSense, one should expect at most four hours on a full charge. Luckily, Sony is being very considerate by giving players a nearly 10-foot braided USB-C cable to use with it. Just be ready to be close to your screen if you need it when playing or have an outlet nearby.

The DualSense Edge launches on January 26, 2023.
