Southgate does not intend to rush to settle his fate with the England international after losing his World Cup dream

Berlin: England manager Gareth Southgate is not about to rush to sort out his fate with the Three Lions after he was knocked out in the quarter-finals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup by France. The England national team have been eliminated from the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the seventh time, in a record of the tournament, after losing 1-2 to France on Saturday. Harry Kane scored the equalizer for England from a penalty kick, after Aurelien Tchoameni advanced with a goal for the French national team (the Roosters), then Olivier Giroud scored the second goal for France in the 78th minute and six minutes later England were awarded a new penalty but Kane hit the net. Southgate said he would take the time to ensure he had made the “right decision” regarding his future with the England national team. “We never met in this situation earlier when we are at the height of Christmas, but we will study the matches and look at them, and so will the whole pitch,” Southgate said on Sunday. He added: “At the moment it is difficult to think of things that we could have done better, there may be little bits and things that will take you to the next tournaments, that’s a path we’ll take.” “Then I’ll celebrate Christmas with my family and we’ll go from there,” explained the England manager. “It’s a really weird feeling because the end of the tournament is so hard… Everyone is preparing everything after years of preparation and then months of rigorous preparation,” he added. “There is also a feeling that we were very close and very happy with the performance, we felt we could have gone and done more. I have very few regrets about the whole thing, so emotionally it’s a dramatic turnaround.” (dpa-stats executes)
