Star Wilford Brimley dead at 85

Wilford Brimley, the mustachioed star whose down-to-earth design made him a staple on the big screen, TELEVISION programs and commercials, died Saturday at the age of 85, his manager specified.

The Salt Lake City native passed away in an extensive care system in St. George, Utah, manager Lynda Bensky specified. He had in fact been on dialysis and suffered many medical issues, she specified.

” Wilford Brimley was a guy you might trust,” Bensky stated. “He said what he indicated and he implied what he stated. He had a difficult exterior and a tender heart. I’m unfortunate that I will no longer get to hear my friend’s fantastic stories. He was one of a kind.”

Brimley was a regular character on the 1970 s television hit “The Waltons” and the next years found himself again ingrained on a hit program, “Our Home.”

His big- screen credits consist of “Cocoon,” “The Natural” and “The Company,” in which he portrayed a law office’s security chief who’s seeing on a young attorney played by Tom Cruise.

However it was Brimley’s work as a marketing pitchman that brought his mustache to millions of new audiences. He marketed Quake Oats and cautioned America about diabetes for the American Diabetes Association.

His pronunciation of diabetes made him capitivating to comics and even to those who experienced the disease. In 2018, the website Diabetes Daily announced him “Mr. Diabeetus.”
