Step aside, 3310 – Nokia’s new XR20 wants to be the next indestructible phone

If a Nokia 3310 it was hit of a car, would be the car that would be damaged. At least that’s what mythology – and the numerous memes – he’d say about Nokia’s classic phone from 2000. And Nokia latest the launch, the XR20, hopes to pick up some of that magic with the company that prides itself on being among the most hard-wearing smartphone in tour.

I don’t like the original 3310, the XR20 is a real smartphone, with Android 11 and a big 6.67 inches display covered in Gorilla Glass Victus, the strongest glass produced by Corning. IS built to “military standard MIL-STD-810H “which basically makes it extremely resistant to falls and bumps. Of course it is IP68 rated against water and dust. All in all, a little rather burly of kit.

Of course it’s still a phone with a big old screen, so don’t expect it to survive a 10,000 foot free fall onto solid concrete, but … should to be in able to survive the ping off the handlebars of your motorcycle and hit the bridge when you are making a career down a side of a mountain. It goes without saying that we are eager to get our hands on it of a model (or two) to see just how hard-wearing these things are. THE test that I’m eager to do include trapping him between Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s biceps, being stepped on on by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wearing sensible shoes and be thrown against the wall by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in frustration as he loses yet another round of classic snake. Mr. Johnson, please obtain in touch.

Put it close – but maybe not directly on – a powerful Circular saw.

Nokia says the phone is aimed at types of outdoor activities (mountaineers, cyclists, cross-country skiers, etc.) e people who just want a phone that can put up with whatever life puts in and takes on snorting when smaller phones crumbled and ran out up in rubbish dump. It’s a good philosophy and Nokia supports it up further providing three years of software updates and a supplement year of security updates to keep it safe e up-to date for longer. Even better, Nokia offers a free screen replacement in case of breakage in the first year of use, and promises to plant 50 trees for every XR20 sold.

Other specifications include a dual rear camera, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G processor with 4 or 8 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of Storage. All of which sounds rather low mid-bass, but it’s really the durability elements that pushed the price up at its starting point of $ 550. it will go on sales in United States and United Kingdom on August 24, with prices in in the UK from £ 399.

Slippery and wet photographic surfaces are no problem for the XR20. The proof is in this photo.

Nokia also unveiled the C30, a whopping 6.8-inch phone with a huge 6,000mAh battery and bass price of only £ 99 in The UK. IS joined from another classic reissue, the Nokia 6310, only 2G feature Phone with a United Kingdom price of £ 50. Wider availability of these two phones are not known at the moment of publication, but we will update this when we hear more.
