Strive for profit The Majority of Turks are against “Erdogan’s dream”

There was a study by Metropoll that showed most Turks are against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s “dream project,” the Istanbul Canal. They believe it is only a way to make money. The poll also found that most people did not want to get rid of the Montreux Agreement, which is an international agreement that controls shipping and how straits work. Turkey.

More than half of those who answered said they did not believe the government’s claim that the Istanbul Canal would make money in that area. Instead, they said they thought it would make the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles more crowded. When people were asked about the boat, only 29.1% said they agreed with the official story.

The study also found that around half of the people in the area are against making the man-made river. There are 376 people who say they agree with the project and 486 who say they don’t.

A lot of people are against the idea because they think it could hurt the Montreux Convention. When people were asked, 45.6% said they were against getting rid of the foreign agreement.

Also, 29% of those surveyed said that former admirals who spoke out in support of the Montreux Convention were just exercising their right to free speech. This is different from what the government believes, which is that the Declaration is “evidence of a coup.”

Fourteen admirals were caught.

Due to the statement they signed earlier this month, 14 admirals were put on leave by the police. The statement asked the government not to leave the Montreux Convention. The police took them because they were “against” the state and wanted to “break constitutional order.”

Out of those who answered, only 17.8% agreed with the government that what the Admiral said was an attempt to take over the government. A different group of people (42.3%) said it was wrong that the admirals were held because of the public statement.

A tunnel will be built as part of this project to connect the Black Sea to the Marmara Sea in the south. A lot of people think it costs 75 billion Turkish lira.

Several business leaders and businesspeople from inside and outside of Turkey are said to be on the canal line near President Erdoğan and his party, the Justice and Development Party.

Lots of people

Akram Imamoglu, who is mayor of Istanbul and a member of the more extreme Republican People’s Party, fought hard in the summer of 2020 to stop the project from going forward. As of late, though, President Erdogan gave the project the green light, so it will now go ahead.

Turkey will soon put in an offer for a mega-canal on the outskirts of Istanbul, Erdogan said on April 7. He also said that the first stone would be laid for it in the summer.
