Study reveals safest countries in case of nuclear war

The scientific journal Nature has published the results of a study by American scientists on the impact of a hypothetical nuclear war on the environment and its consequences for food security in the world.

This is indicated in Report published in Nature Food section For Nature, scientists at Rutgers University in the US state of New Jersey studied hypothetical nuclear war scenarios.

According to their estimates, the bombing of cities and industrial centers with nuclear bombs will cause firestorms and pollute the atmosphere with emissions of combustion products.

This will lead to climate change and a reduction in the amount of food on land and in the oceans.

The study showed that if more than 150 grams of soot were released into the atmosphere, grain consumption would be reduced by 90% 3 or 4 years after the disaster.

It should be noted that one teragram (tg) is equal to one trillion (1012) grams, and 150 tenge is equal to 150 million tons.

The maps included in the study showed that Australia and Argentina would be able to maintain normal levels of food consumption even with the highest possible soot emissions.

The study added that New Zealand will also be one of the least affected countries, but the region could face an influx of immigrants from Asia and other countries who will suffer from food shortages.

Scientists have studied the consequences of conflicts between different countries, including between Russia and the United States. According to their estimates, a nuclear war between these two countries could lead to the death of more than 5 billion people, and a “nuclear winter” would come on the planet.
