Sudan: it is important to reach an agreement on the Renaissance dam

Today, at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Othman Hussein Osman, chaired the periodic meeting of the Supreme Committee to follow up on the dossier of the Renaissance dam.

The meeting listened to a briefing by the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Eng. Daou Al-Bayt Abdul Rahman Mansour, on the second round of negotiations held in the United Arab Emirates.

The meeting underlined the need to reach common understandings between the three countries that take into account the major strategic interests between them.

Interestingly, the Supreme Committee to Follow Up on the Renaissance Dam File held its first meeting earlier this month after its reform led by Cabinet Affairs Minister Othman Hussein Osman and reviewed the tasks, deadlines reference and the methodology of his work and the need to follow up on the Renaissance dam dossier and work to support Sudan’s negotiating position in a way that takes into account the superior strategic interests.
