The game was first spotted in September when it was rated in South Korea. Since then, however, nothing has been heard or seen about it. With this new rating, more information about the game has been made public via the “game introduction” setting of the rating.

The game will feature characters named Anita and Maya. In Silent Hill: The Short Message, Anita becomes trapped inside an abandoned apartment. From there, it becomes a game of survival:

Before her trauma consumes her will to survive, she must flee from her anxieties and the monsters that lurk in the hallways, learn the truth about the events she is trapped in, and make an escape attempt.

Other details from the rating include the game plot featuring “violence, horror, and inappropriate language” and the game’s 15+ rating from TESRI.

With 2023 being a “long-awaited” year for Konami and its fans, a new Silent Hill release is possible. It was revealed in October that Silent Hill 2 Remake was in progress utilizing Unreal Engine 5. There’s also a spin-off game called Silent Hill: Townfall. But as the saying goes: but wait, there’s more! Silent Hill F takes the series to 1960s Japan for a new story. At the same time, Silent Hill Ascension will be an interactive streaming series. However, one game that wasn’t mentioned during that event was Silent Hill: The Short Message.

Lastly, there are rumors of Konami bringing back other popular franchises like Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania in some way.
