Taiwan-US relations: Biden pledges to protect island in event of Chinese attack

“The United States defense relation with Taiwan is governed by the Taiwan Relations Act. We will keep our commitment under the law, we will continue met: support Taiwan’s self-defense, and we will continue to oppose any one-sided changes to the status quo,” said the official said.

Biden said Thursday he wasn’t concerned over a deliberate military conflict with China, but expressed concern over unintended escalation.

Biden, citing his relationship with Xi, said he was not looking for a prolonged conflict.

Not me want a cold war with China. l want China to understand that we are not going to do that step back and change every of our opinion.”
