TeamViewer unveils new patch management system
The new tool offers IT departments system-wide visibility of all required patches.

One of the most difficult tasks that an IT department has to deal with is managing the sea of patches that are needed to keep a system up-to-date and secure.
TeamViewer is now making it a little easier for their customers to address the issue and on Thursday announced the release of Patch Management, which is part of its larger Monitoring & Asset Management product.
“Patch Management is our integrated solution for SMEs and businesses that allows our users to easily detect and patch vulnerable, outdated software,” said Mike Eissele, chief technology officer at TeamViewer.
“This is a much needed feature of our customers and we are happy to finally be able to offer it,” said Eissele.

Only one missing patch can endanger an entire system and some IT departments now face thousands of devices and tools used in global networks. The idea is that patch management makes it easier for IT departments to keep systems up-to-date by automatically testing, evaluating, and applying patches to systems of all sizes.
Patches can be added to third-party applications. The new tool gives IT staff more visibility in their system and offers simpler methods to accommodate outdated software.
With the new system this can also be done remotely, an important struggle for international companies. It offers the possibility to fully automate the patching process.
A feature of the new tool is the ability to see a centralized dashboard of all printers, routers and switches within a system, as well as status updates for each device. The status updates include things like online status, disk status, CPU usage and more.
“Keeping IT systems up-to-date is crucial because neglected or outdated software can lead to significant vulnerabilities, creating room for cyber attackers,” Eissele added.
