The social network “TikTok” has launched a new feature to combat the publication of inaccurate information, and users will receive a notification about any unverified content.

In detail, TikTok announced today that the social network provides videos that have been uploaded for verification to expert services that determine the accuracy of the information so that if the video is confirmed to contain wrong information, it is removed from the platform.

However, on Wednesday, the social network introduced a new feature that will be applied if the accuracy of the information in the video cannot be confirmed or if experts are not sure of its accuracy.

The company now plans to report such videos as containing “unverified content,” which will also inform the creators of the videos and invite them to clarify the information. When trying to share such content, users will also see a notification about video content that has not been verified and a suggestion to change their minds or continue sharing.

Optional step

According to a statement on the service’s website: “The user will first see a notification on the video if the content has been reviewed but could not be verified. The video creators will also receive a notification. If viewers intend to share a reported video, they will see a reminder that the video has been reported as content.” Unverified. This is an optional step. It requires a pause for people to consider the next action and choose “Close” or “Share Anyway”.

In addition, it should be noted that when testing such functions, the number of re-posts of videos with unconfirmed content decreased by 24%, and the number of likes for such videos decreased by 7%.
