Career changers often have to relocate and pay a salary to become members of the technical world

The grass is always greener, depending on which side of the technical fence you are on. In a recent study, Indeed discovered that people who wanted a job in IT were looking for more money and more job satisfaction. In the same study, people who had an IT job wanted to leave the technology world for the same reasons: money and accident.

People who were planning to join the technical industry considered it 12 months, two months longer than other industries. A higher salary was the most important motivation to transfer. People also wanted more career opportunities (81%), more challenges in their roles (75%) and more flexibility (75%).

The research showed that people who made the switch often had to move and pay for a fee, at least initially. Eighty-three percent of 83% of career changers reported being financially affected by their decision. However, only 39% said it meant an initial wage cut compared to 61% in other industries. Half of the respondents said they had to move to another state or even another country.

Only 36% of tech switchers signed up for specific education or training programs to make the switch that is the same as in other industries. People who did choose training mostly chose a university degree and certification programs, followed by boot camps and then non-diploma courses.

Indeed, individuals who invest in their technical education should spend considerably more than those in other industries: an average of $ 38,507 compared to $ 15,715. However, 81% of those in technology have earned back their investment by the time of Indeed’s survey (compared to 71% in other industries), with certain IT certifications paying wages in particular in higher salaries. But 56% of tech career changers did not have to spend extra money to make the switch.

Indeed, in the US and Canada, tech professionals with six or more IT certifications earn $ 10,000 more per year than professionals with just one. The 10 best paying certifications according to Indeed are:
