DoorDash Introduces New Features for Users and Delivery People
DoorDash is introducing a series of new features for users and delivery people on its platform, the company announced on Wednesday. Most notably, DoorDash is going to start giving delivery people the option to choose between two ways to earn.
Earn by Time and Earn Per Offer
“Earn by Time” is a new option that allows delivery people to earn a guaranteed hourly minimum rate plus 100% of tips on top. DoorDash has not disclosed the exact hourly rate. The second option is called “Earn Per Offer” and is the existing earning mode on the platform, but with a more efficient and streamlined suggested route, according to DoorDash. Delivery people who choose this option will see upfront the guaranteed minimum amount they can expect to make, along with 100% of tips.
Increased Choice, Flexibility, and Control for Dashers
DoorDash explained in a blog post that at the start of each dash where Earn by Time is available, Dashers can choose their preferred earning mode. They can also switch modes during a dash. This new feature provides unprecedented choice, flexibility, and control for Dashers in how they work.
Enhancements for Delivery People
DoorDash is rolling out several enhancements to improve the experience for delivery people. Users now have the ability to add a tip or increase the tip amount for their delivery person up to 30 days after the order has been fulfilled. The new “Dash Along the Way” feature ensures that delivery people automatically receive offers that take them directly to their chosen starting point. Additionally, delivery people can now share their location with up to five trusted contacts, allowing them to track their progress and ensure safety during deliveries.
Improved User Experience
For customers, DoorDash is adding a new universal search bar at the top of the app, making it easier to find anything needed across grocery and restaurant options. The app will also feature dedicated tabs for browsing, grocery, and retail, further aiding users in finding exactly what they’re looking for. Moreover, users will be able to start and manage multiple shopping carts within the app, enhancing convenience and organization.
Expansion and SNAP/EBT Online Payment
DoorDash’s consumer app updates will gradually roll out over the next few months across the United States, Canada, and Australia. Additionally, DoorDash is launching SNAP/EBT online payment for grocery delivery with multiple partners, including ALDI, Albertsons, Safeway, Meijer, and participating 7-Eleven stores. This initiative aims to provide greater accessibility and convenience to customers who rely on SNAP/EBT benefits for their grocery needs.
With these new features and enhancements, DoorDash is set to provide a better experience for both its delivery people and users while increasing opportunities and control for Dashers. The updates also showcase DoorDash’s commitment to improving accessibility, convenience, and safety throughout the platform.
