In no time you can go to Yelp’s Apple Watch app to find local restaurants and other businesses.

Yelp works best on a mobile phone where you can take full advantage of the app to find restaurants, gas stations, stores, and other nearby businesses. But if your phone isn’t handy, you can still use the Yelp app if you have an Apple Watch. The watch version is more limited compared to the version for mobile phones, but can still be useful.
With Yelp’s Apple Watch app, you can select a specific list and find a description, review highlights, and a map that you can tap to generate step-by-step directions. Let’s take a look at Yelp’s Apple Watch app in action.

If you already have Yelp on your iPhone but not on your Apple Watch, open the Watch app on your phone. On the My Watch screen, scroll down to the Available Apps section. Tap the Install button next to Yelp to add it to your Apple Watch. The app appears in the Installed section on Apple Watch (Figure A).

Open the Yelp app on your watch. The first screen shows links to different categories of companies, including restaurants, bars, coffee and tea and Hot & New. Tap Restaurants and the app searches for local restaurants, telling you that it will tap you when it’s ready.
The first restaurant appears in the list. Swipe down the screen and keep swiping to see every restaurant in the list. When you see a restaurant that intrigues you, tap it. Swipe down to view the full details, including the type of kitchen, opening times, location, review highlights, and full review. Tap the map to get directions to the restaurant. The Maps app on your watch will open to give you step-by-step directions (Figure B).

Return to the main screen to see other types of companies. Tap the category for Bars, Coffee and tea or Hot and new. Swipe up and then down to view each individual entry. Tap a place that interests you to view the details and tap the map to get directions (Figure C).

If you have an Apple Watch Series 5, the Yelp app can use your watch’s built-in compass. When you view a company on your watch, a small compass symbol appears at the bottom right of the screen that points you to the location and tells you how far it is.
