TikTok is currently testing the new view history feature with a subset of users, allowing them to locate videos that have appeared on the For You page but were not saved.
Users often accidentally update the “For You” page and lose the video they wanted to like before they could. This is because the content is always being streamed through the platform.
By adding this possible feature, it looks like the platform is trying to solve this problem.
When asked if the company plans to grow, I tested and made the features available to more users, and the platform said in an email that he didn’t have anything else to say about the test. A TikTok representative said, “We are always thinking of new ways to add value to our community and make the TikTok experience better.”
Social media consultant Matt Navarra then brought it to people’s attention.
Screenshots show that the “Content and Activity” section of the app’s settings is where users can find their history of what they’ve watched.
TikTok wants to help find missing clips
The experiment is conducted after platform users develop workarounds to locate the missing videos.
At the start of the quest year, a platform user posted a video that showed how to find a missing video on TikTok.
The video tells people to go to the “Discover” page, click “Search,” and then type in a “*.” Then, click the “Watched Videos” button on the search filter tab.
When you click “Apply,” you’ll see a list of the videos you’ve watched in the past week. Since then, the video has been watched a lot. More than 32 million people have watched it, and more than 5.5 million have liked it.
But this isn’t the only way that people found the missing videos.
A workaround walks users through the process of downloading data from the app so they can access a zip file that shows the videos they’ve watched in the past.
The Watch History feature should make it easier to find videos and make these workarounds unnecessary.
