WhatsApp Business Surpasses 200 Million Monthly Active Users

WhatsApp Business has experienced impressive growth, with more than 200 million monthly active users – four times the number from last year. This milestone is proof of the app’s effectiveness in creating opportunities for small businesses. To improve the user experience, WhatsApp Business has introduced new features such as a simplified ad creation process and personalized messaging. We’re confident that this positive trend will continue as the company prioritizes efficiency. We’re also excited about Mark Zuckerberg’s investment in the metaverse, which opens up new revenue streams for WhatsApp. Our commitment to exploring every opportunity to help businesses thrive remains strong.

Creating Ads Without a Facebook Account

Starting today, WhatsApp Business users can create “click-to-WhatsApp” ads without requiring a Facebook account, according to the chat app owned by Meta. They can also purchase and publish ads directly from within the app for Facebook and Instagram. During Meta’s Q3 earnings call last year, Zuckerberg mentioned that “click-to-WhatsApp” ads generated over $1.5 billion annually with an 80% year-on-year growth rate.

Personalized Messages for Customers

WhatsApp Business plans to introduce a new paid feature that enables merchants to automate the process of sending custom messages to their clients. The pricing details have not been disclosed yet, but the feature will be tested soon. According to the screenshots released by the company, businesses will be able to send distinct messages to various customer lists. As an example, a seller can send a purchase button along with a discount code to new customers.

Increased Revenue through Paid Messaging

Recently, Meta has taken definitive measures to boost its revenue from paid messaging. In February, the company unveiled modifications in WhatsApp’s pricing structure and messaging categories, which included utility, authentication (for sending one-time passcodes), marketing, and user-initiated service conversations. During the Q1 2023 earnings call, Zuckerberg disclosed that click-to-message ads revenue had surged to $10 billion, and the number of companies employing Meta’s paid messaging on WhatsApp had increased by 40% quarter-over-quarter.

Growth in Messaging Revenue

At present, the company does not disclose individual revenue for WhatsApp. Instead, it is grouped with the “other” category. According to Meta’s report for the quarter ending in March, the messaging revenue of the WhatsApp Business platform experienced a robust growth. However, the category saw a 5% decline year-over-year due to a decrease in other line items.

Expanding Payments Business

WhatsApp has been proactively promoting its payments business by introducing new features on its platform. In Brazil, it added the ability for users to pay merchants and in Singapore, it followed suit with similar functionality. Just recently, the company launched the channels feature, making it easier for organizations to have broadcast conversations. To further improve user experience, WhatsApp is exploring ways to integrate payments into channels. These efforts demonstrate WhatsApp’s commitment to providing innovative solutions to its users and fostering a seamless payment experience. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
