NEW YORK – Terence Crawford hopes that 2020 is finally the year to land in bigger-name rivals. In the meantime, he has to face a mandatory challenger.

The switch-bending phenomenon commits that its only focus right now is to shut down the “Mean Machine” and nothing more, that is, any talk of a future battle against PBC fighters like Errol Spence Jr., Manny Pacquiao, Keith Thurman or Shawn Porter will have to wait.
“I am not focused on any opponent other than the one in front of me,” Crawford said during his last race press conference earlier in the week. “My goal is to make sure I win this weekend, and (Cavallioukas) is the only person I’m focused on right now, everybody is talking, going to one ear and out to the other. I don’t take it lightly. “
Cavalliousas revealed he has been preparing for Crawford’s unique style since June.
“All the tactics, it was all about how Crawford fights, what attitude he will use,” Kavalyauskas said as he tried to train on Crawford’s style. “Sparring, we had a lot of different guys, southpaws, orthodox, kids at different positions. And training camp, (we worked) speed, power, boxing, technique and tactics, all in five, six months.
“Going straight to Crawford is not an option because he is very smart and showed in his last fight that he is smart in the ring.” “So, yes, we will work on my combinations. That one.”
Whether this approach makes for an interesting battle remains to be seen.
Crawford has noted that Cavaliasas has never fallen. he might try to change it before turning the page on the New Year and the battles.
The co-feature, Richard Commey defending the IBF lightweight title against Teofimo Lopez Jr., will try to be the show-stealing fight of the night during this tripleheader.
