Texas Mother Creates Application To Help Parents Find Black Santa

Christmas Day is fast approaching, and before the official day, many places offer the opportunity to take photos with Santa Claus. However, it can sometimes be difficult for black parents to find a Santa Claus where they can take their children, who looks like them.

However, a Texas mother was able to find a way to help solve this problem.

According to CBS News, last year Jihan Woods, who is a doctor and mother of twins, launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund his Black Santa location app. She was able to raise $ 5,000 in 30 days, and the result was an app called “Find Black Santa,” which lists Santa Claus in 35 states and Washington D.C.

Jihan talked about his development of the app and said, “I really wanted my kids to see a Santa Claus who looks like them. It is important to me that they live diversity in all aspects of their lives, including Santa Claus. “

Terri Lipsey Scott, executive director of Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, said families drove nearly an hour to take a photo with the black Santa Claus at their location. Scott said, “The turnout is incredible – there are so few options when it comes to the availability of an African American Santa Claus. This element of self-esteem even during the holiday season is so important. “

Roommates, what are your thoughts?
