The 5.6 magnitude earthquake hits the Peruvian capital

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake shook Lima, the capital of Peru, and the surrounding regions.

According to the National Institute of Geophysics, the quake was recorded at 5:27 local time (10.27 GMT), with its epicenter 19 km northeast of Lima and the starting point of the seismic fracture at 116 km.

The quake was felt in the provinces of Canet and Xincha, south of the capital, as well as in the city of Chimbote, 400 km north of Lima, and there is still no news on the number of victims and material damage.
