The Autumn and Veolia Alliance wins a water services contract in Riyadh worth 358 million riyals

Today, Thursday, the Saudi National Water Company announced that the alliance between the Saudi Al-Khorayef Company and the French Veolia Company, has won the management contract for operation and maintenance, through which it will manage the operation and water maintenance and environmental treatment services in the Riyadh region (the city of Riyadh and its entire governorate), for a cost of over 358 million riyals and for a period of seven years, after the approval of its Council of administration chaired by the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Ing. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli, to award the management contract for the Riyadh region, which was fully organized under the aegis of the company in March 2021 .

The CEO of the National Water Company, Eng. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Mowkley, said: “One of the most important pillars of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 is the well-being of the citizen, and the quality of the services provided to him, from which emerged the National Water Strategy 2030, and through it the strategy of the National Water Company was adopted, which developed detailed plans to improve water services in the Kingdom, with the participation of the private sector.

He continued: “We are moving forward, in the process of structuring the water services and integration under the umbrella of the company, as we have completed 92% of the renovation project and dividing 13 administrative areas. in 6 sectors under the umbrella of the company. At the beginning of next November 2021 AD, we will reach 100% by merging the last sectors, which is the northern sector. “Which includes 4 administrative regions (Al-Qassim, Hail, Al-Jawf and Northern Borders), and therefore all regions del Kingdom will be fully managed by the National Water Company.

Al-Mowkley added that the company intends to complete the preparation of the distribution sector for privatization by improving the performance of the sector’s services through management contracts that will be completed by the end of the year. in course 2021. The alliance achieved the following, the most important of which: “Improving and developing the customer experience, increasing operational efficiency through cost rationing, reducing water losses and improving network management, as well as to motivate the alliance to do everything possible to obtain incentives in the case in whose performance increases when the indicators are higher than the approved objectives. ” in the contract.

And he indicated that the duration of the contract is 7 years, and if the objectives are achieved after the third year of the contract, and the availability of the sector will increase, this will allow the Azienda Nazionale delle Acque to go directly to the phase of concession contracts. in which the private sector will take full responsibility for water services, and will not wait until seven years have passed ”.

Interestingly, the winning consortium has extensive experience in water service management and environmental treatment.
