Watch The Batman Trailer

The newest teaser that was published in December is possibly the most exciting out of all of them, showcasing Catwoman and Batman’s budding connection.

The Batman Plot?

Bruce Wayne’s second year as Batman will be the focus of this film, according to director Matt Reeves. This means that we won’t get a chance to watch the transformation of Bruce Wayne into deadly Batman. Murders are being committed all throughout Gotham City in this film. The official plot summary is as follows:

”With an emphasis on suspense and action, The Batman presents a younger version of the Dark Knight as he struggles with conflicting impulses of anger and righteousness while probing a sinister secret that has plagued Gotham City. As a disillusioned, desperate vigilante awakened by the knowledge that the fury that consumes him makes him no better than his target, Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of Batman is raw and passionate.”

Is The Batman Connected to the DC Expanded Universe?

Reeves originally hinted at the notion that The Batman would be out of the DCEU totally, similar to The Joker. Since then, he has switched his tune and has seemed to insinuate that this movie will be a vital component of the DCEU. This could be accomplished in a number of ways. To keep things simple, Robert Pattinson could simply take Ben Affleck’s place in the film, and no one would be the wiser. Not only has something like this happened before (thanks, Don Cheadle), but the DC Extended Universe has also introduced us to characters capable of altering reality.

Another alternative would be some mirror reality that has a faint relation to DCEU. The Flashpoint storyline, which rewrites the known DC universe, is more likely to be the idea for the upcoming film The Flash. That could be a fantastic approach to bringing in a new Batman.

Robert Pattinson As Batman

Robert Pattinson as Batman

One of the world’s most recognizable superheroes, Batman is the vigilante alter-ego of reclusive millionaire Bruce Wayne, with which he strives to rescue Gotham City from deep-rooted crime and corruption. Pattinson came to international popularity as Edward Cullen in the Twilight novel, having earlier played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Zoë Kravitz As Catwoman

Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman

This film takes place before Selina has truly become the Catwoman fans would recognize from the comics. She’s a nightclub waitress, drug dealer, and cat thief who is pursuing a desperate search for her missing roommate, meeting Batman in the process and questioning him on his very black-and-white perspective of good and evil.

Paul Dano AsThe Riddler

Paul Dano as The Riddler

A legendary Batman villain, in this rendition Riddler, is a serial killer who targets elite Gotham citizens and live-streams his crimes to the globe, saying that his purpose is to “unmask the truth” about Gotham. He routinely taunts Batman by leaving puzzles at crime sites behind him as a kind of punishment.

Jeffrey Wright As Jim Gordon

Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon

James, a Gotham City Police Department lieutenant who we know will rise to the position of commissioner in the comics, is one of Batman’s closest allies in the force and is dedicated to rooting out corruption in the city.

Colin Farrell As The Penguin

Colin Farrell As The Penguin

Another character who hasn’t quite attained to the position he later has in the comics — we meet Cobblepot as a scarred, growing crime lord who detests being referred to as the Penguin.

John Turturro As Carmine Falcone

John Turturro As Carmine Falcone

In Gotham City, Falcone is a well-known crime lord who controls most of the city but who has almost as much of private life as Bruce Wayne, appearing in public only on rare occasions.

Andy Serkis As Alfred Pennyworth

Andy Serkis As Alfred Pennyworth

In this version of Batman, Batman’s butler and mentor aren’t on the best of terms and don’t communicate much — despite the fact that he remains a loyal confidant. He’s concerned about Bruce and his ambition to become Batman.

What Is the Runtime of The Batman?

The film has a stunning runtime of 2 hours and 55 minutes.
