The work of the Arab Council of Ministers began today, Saturday, in Algeria, and Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra took over the rotating presidency of the 31st Arab summit from his Tunisian counterpart Othman Al-Jarandi.
Lamamra stated in a speech during the opening that the university seeks a fresh start for joint Arab action, stressing that global developments should not affect the pursuit of Arab problem solving.
He also added that “the crisis in Ukraine creates a difficult reality that requires joint Arab action “, noting that” we must push towards paths of pace to resolve the crises in our Arab countries “.
He stressed the need to uphold the principles of good neighborliness and respect for the sovereignty and independence of states, asking to invest the enormous opportunities available to achieve Arab integration.
In turn, the secretary general of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Abul Ghaith, said that the Arab summit is the most important mechanism for joint Arab action.
He stressed the willingness to continue holding the Arab summit, noting that the Algiers summit seeks to develop a plan for joint action in the next phase.
It is interesting to note that Algeria officially assumed the rotating presidency of the Arab Summit on Wednesday, where the first meeting of the League Council at the level of permanent delegates and senior preparatory officials was launched.
