No TV I’ve ever tested offers this much picture quality for this little one cash. The 2020 TCL 6 Series 4K UHD TV has even better picture quality than its predecessor, thanks to the mini-LED tech and well implemented full-array local dimming which helps run spin around just on any other TV to this one price. This QLED TV is also a solid gaming TV choice for players with a THX mode that combines low input lag and high contrast. As if that weren’t enough, the Roku TV operating system are our hands-down favorite.

Outlook 2021: TCL says this TV will do it remain on sale through most of 2021. I don’t expect it to be replaced at least until the fall, and it could stay all the time year. TCL will do it also sell an 8K version of the 6 Series, but I don’t think it will be worth the money.

What do you say? you just want the best 55 inch TV and you can afford anything you want want? Here it is. In my side-of-side test, the LG G1 OLED TV is the best TV I’ve ever reviewed, with world-beat contrast, perfect wide viewing angle and excellent uniformity. This OLED TV beats the picture of the LG CX below, barely, and offers a more subtle, more wall-friendly design. If you can afford it, this is the 55-inch TV to buy.

LG G1 TV review: Can the OLED picture quality improve further?

8:56

Sarah Tew / CNET

Currently this OLED TV is available for hundreds in less than the G1 above, e with the image quality is almost the same good, the 2020 CX is a better choice overall for people who want a really nice TV but I don’t have it money burn. The G1 was slightly brighter in my measurements and has slightly better video processing, but it really was hard to tell the difference. The only one real the advantage of the G1 is that subtle styling, but the CX is pretty subtle by itself.

Outlook 2021: The new model, designated C1, costs a few hundred dollars more compared to the CX. I haven’t reviewed it yet. is adds some minors new features is improved processing, but I expect the image quality to be in much the same as that of the CX.

To look for a high-end TV with spectacular image quality, but don’t want an OLED? The Samsung QN90A is yours best bet. This TV uses QLED tech powered by mini-LEDs, for a brighter picture than any OLED TV. The spectacular contrast of OLED yet won out in my side-of-side test, but the QN90A is closer than ever. His also a little cheaper than the 2021 OLED TVs, but not cheaper than the 2020 CX.

Roku is ours favorite platform for streaming apps like Netflix, and it’s even better placed in this 4K TV. Image quality on this 55-inch TCL TV set I can’t beat anyone of the models above: its 4K resolution and HDR compatibility do nothing for help the picture – but that’s fine for most people, mostly in this price.

Aside from the aforementioned TCL 6 series, this is the runner-up for best TV for the money. TCL has better picture quality and better smart HDTV system hence it offers superior TV viewing experience overall, but it is also a couple of hundred dollars more expensive. If you can’t afford the 6 Series, this Vizio is a lot good runner-up.

Outlook 2021: The successor of this TV is the M55Q7-J. It looks very similar on card – the main difference is a new voice remote. I have not reviewed the new model yet but since currently costs $ 800, I doubt it will be worth the price difference than with 2020 version.

V of Vizioseries is ours favorite budget TCL Series 4 Roku TV alternative of this size. We liked Roku’s smart TV system better (sound familiar?), but the V-series it has some advantages, including a better one remote with voice is more advanced picture settings. The image quality between the two was pretty much the same, so if you don’t have a preference, it makes sense to get the cheaper one one.

I’m sure you would be happy with whatever of the televisions above, but a new 55-inch TV set it can be a big investment, so maybe you are looking for for a little more information. Here’s a quick and dirty one list.

  • In my opinion bigger is better. Big TVs are cheaper than ever and yours money is best spent on large screen size rather than a slight upgrade in image quality or resolution.
  • If you do not like the way the built-in Smart TV system interacts with your streaming apps, You always can add a media streamer. After all, there are more streaming services with more amazing content like never before.
