The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Beta’s Lobby Disconnects can be Fixed

Infinity Ward confirms it’s working on tweaks to rectify one of the biggest complaints from Modern Warfare 2 players.

As it confirms changes to how lobbies disband after each game, Infinity Ward is working on a solution to one of the most common complaints from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 user base. All PC, Xbox, and PlayStation users can currently participate in an open beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Before opening to all audiences, the beta was accessible only to PlayStation players who had pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2. Users have a few days to play the game as the Modern Warfare 2 beta is available until September 26. These beta testing sessions are typically held so that developers can get feedback. Users have received regular updates from Infinity Ward regarding plans to address various issues. It now appears that the developer wants to address one of the Call of Duty players’ most vocal complaints.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s lobby disbanding after each game has drawn criticism, according to Infinity Ward. The developer is currently working on a few adjustments to improve the likelihood of lobbies remaining together. The UI for sharing this information in-game will also be improved. Players might have to wait until the full release to see the improvements since Infinity Ward doesn’t discuss how this will operate.

Players of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 have been requesting persistent lobbies for some time. As they can develop friendships and rivalries over many games, many fans enjoy the social aspect this adds to the game. Players can currently only choose Quick Play, which will look for matches from these options and their preferred game modes. After every game, the lobby is completely disbanded as the matchmaking system starts a new search.

Although Infinity Ward makes no promises regarding the return of persistent lobbies, the user base will probably find it motivating to know that the issue is being investigated. However, the likelihood of a lobby remaining intact appears to have increased due to the new changes. If users want to play with persistent lobbies enabled, Infinity Ward might add a toggle to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 menu that they can turn on. On the other hand, these choices might polarize the player base, which might affect the overall matchmaking process.

The October 28 release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
