The Elder Scrolls 6 Update: Bethesda Confirms Development in Anniversary Message
Bethesda has exciting news for fans of The Elder Scrolls series! The company recently shared an update on the highly anticipated sequel, The Elder Scrolls 6.
In celebration of the RPG series’ 30th anniversary, Bethesda confirmed that development on The Elder Scrolls VI is underway. The company expressed their joy and excitement at revisiting the world of Tamriel and playing early builds of the game.
The first game in the series, The Elder Scrolls: Arena, was released in 1994. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the most recent numbered entry in the series, has sold over 60 million copies since its release in 2011.
The announcement for The Elder Scrolls 6 was made at E3 2018 with a teaser trailer, revealing that the game was in pre-production at Bethesda Game Studios. Although Starfield, a sci-fi RPG, was released first, Elder Scrolls 6 is now Bethesda’s next flagship game.
Series director Todd Howard discussed the long wait for Elder Scrolls 6, expressing some uncertainty about the timing of its initial announcement. However, he emphasized the team’s goal to create the ultimate fantasy-world simulator with the game.
Former Bethesda publishing boss Pete Hines shared that Elder Scrolls 6 is still in early development, and further updates may not be announced until after Starfield’s release.
As for exclusivity, Microsoft’s head of gaming mentioned that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still several years away and will not be exclusive to Xbox. Fans can expect more news about the game in the future, but for now, the excitement continues to build for the next chapter in the beloved Elder Scrolls series.
