The expert reveals the characteristics of a new version of the coronavirus "Cerberus"

Russian epidemiologist Natalya Pechenichnaya, deputy director for clinical and analytical work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology, said that the Cerberus variant is no more dangerous than the Omicron mutant.

In an interview with Russian RIA Novosti, the expert pointed out that the Cerberus variant of the emerging coronavirus is no more dangerous than the rest of the Omicron mutant lines, but it is more contagious. And its trajectory is easier compared to the “delta” option.

According to the expert, “There are no significant differences between the BQ.1.1 Cerberus variant and the previous Omicron variants in terms of symptoms and the course of the disease. But compared to the delta variation, he might say that his move is lighter.”

And he adds that the Cerberus variant, according to scientists, is more contagious compared to other Omicron variants. Therefore, it is very important to take preventive measures.

Dr. Anna Popova, head of the Consumer Protection Agency, reportedly announced a few days ago the identification of two new species of Covid-19, one of which is Cerberus from one of Omicron’s subsidiaries. a mutant that is expected to spread in Russia.
