The first measure in Egypt to control prices in the markets

Egyptian Minister of Local Development Hisham Amna instructed the governors to take the necessary measures in cooperation with all relevant departments in the governorates to control the prices of food and strategic goods for citizens.

The Minister of Local Development pointed to the importance of constant coordination throughout the day between governors and agencies that are part of the Ministries of Supply and Interior, the Federation of Industry and the Chambers of Commerce in order to fulfill the Prime Minister’s directives.

Maj. Gen. Hisham Amna also stressed the need for provincial governments to ensure that all supermarket chains and grocery stores, whether wholesale or retail, clearly announce product prices within a maximum of two weeks from the date of the announcement.

And the Minister of Local Development ordered that all competent authorities monitor the markets and reserve goods that are deliberately hidden and stored in warehouses to cause confusion in the markets, especially strategic goods that directly affect the daily lives of citizens.

Major General Hisham Amna pointed out the importance of working in coordination with affiliated agencies in the governorates to provide goods on a consistent and dignified basis for citizens and work to ensure the availability of all types of goods in stores, pointing out the importance of paying special attention to the work of public initiatives and the opening of stores and retail outlets to provide citizens with food products at reduced prices in coordination with all governors and chambers of commerce.

The Minister of Local Development also instructed the operations department and crisis management in the ministry to contact the operations departments in the governorates and activate hotlines in each governorate to receive any complaints from citizens about this and take the necessary legal action.
