The fourth season of the runaways is before you
After two years, Marvel’s Runaways are gone this week with the release of season three on Hulu. Fans who are thinking about what happens next will not get another season, at least until the inevitable Disney Plus relaunch.
But there’s still one place TV fans can turn to in the meantime. Of course it seems obvious to say “read the source material”. But here’s the ice-cold truth: The Runaways comic has been around since 2003, but it has never been better than it is now.
For a comic series that has been canceled three times in the first six years of its existence, Runaways has an amazingly good pedigree. Created by Saga, Paper Girls and Y: Brian K. Vaughan, the last man, and Adrian Alphona, the co-creator of Ms. Marvel. The series would eventually be written by a pre-Avengers Joss Whedon himself.
After almost ten years on the shelf, an ongoing runaways series came back in 2017, which comes from the extremely talented artist Kris Anka (Captain Marvel, Star-Lord) and YA author and Runaways superfan Rainbow Rowell. Her series builds on the continuity that lies ahead to create her own era for the characters. With her own reading of YA after the book, Rowell made a point of making the series a series that everyone could read and read. If readers really want to catch up, she suggests reading only the Vaughan / Alphona era.
But if you are a show fan, you already know the exercise: children of super villains run away, have teenage adventures. The first thing Rowell and Anka started to do was to put the band back together in the various places they had been in the meantime – including dead, dismembered, or general attempts to continue.
Easier said than done, but the job required many adventures to get there. Once the team had some stability, their past returned to haunt them and their parents’ minions threatened, and today they are actually trying a bit to be real superheroes just to have a place to live.
But don’t think Rowell and her coworkers have shortened the drama! Nico has finally noticed that she is funny and has met Karolina. On the other hand, there is far too much time travel, resurrection and apocalypse luggage between Gert and Chase. And while Chase wants to wait for them to reach the same age again, Gert falls in love with Victor. Who is victor
Well, in the comic the television viewers could even find a little distance from where the series ended.

Even though the last episode of Runaways looked like it would equip the whole gang for a happy ending to the story, their last moments will be even more exciting. An angry Alex sent a message from the future telling him to kill Nico and hide “Mancha” to annoy the introduction of Victor Mancha.
Victor Mancha was just an average teenager until he found out that he really was an Ultron robot in disguise and turned his back on his evil inventor father. In this way, he’s the brother of the vision, a stronger connection to Marvel’s main universe than ever in the Hulu series, but not one that viewers are likely to ever pursue.
Unless they’re watching the comic. The Rowell and Anka series (which also features art by David Lafuente, Takeshi Miyazawa, Andres Genolet, and others) has so far been available on Comixology, Marvel Unlimited, and four anthologies.
