Street Fighter 6’s popularity and sales target
Since its release, Street Fighter 6 has proven extremely popular. The game passed 1 million players within three days of release, and Capcom aims to sell 10 million copies of Street Fighter 6 over its lifetime.
In an interview with Famitsu, Haruhiro Tsujimoto explained that by widening the game’s scope and making the series more appealing to less ‘hardcore’ fighting game fans the company wants it to become the best-selling game in the series.
“Over the past few years, multiple titles in the Resident Evil series have sold 10 million copies, and the Monster Hunter series now has titles that are aiming for 20 million copies,” Tsujimoto explained at the time.
“Street Fighter V has already sold over 7 million copies, so if we can make use of our digital sales experience, we should be able to aim for 10 million copies with the next game.
AsumeTech’s 5-star Street Fighter 6 review called the game “an incredible fighter dripping with confidence”, adding: “With the three titans of the fighting game space all releasing mainline entries this year, competition is going to be stiff, but Capcom is putting its best foot forward.”
