The Kremlin said on Monday that the United States should not pressure anyone to approve Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
The recently completed pipeline is in awaiting approval from the German regulator before Russia can start exporting natural gas through it.
The pipeline, which bypasses Ukraine and is designed to carry the gas directly in Germany across the bottom of the Baltic Sea is opposed by the United States and some European countries.
They say it will make Europe heavily dependent on Russian gas, but other European governments say the pipeline is vital for securing energy supplies.
