The Marvels Trailer Spotlights WandaVision’s Monica Rambeau

The latest update on The Marvels has revealed new footage from the upcoming Disney+ show WandaVision and its latest hero Monica Rambeau, who is set to star in the highly anticipated Captain Marvel sequel releasing in 2021. Captain Marvel 2 is expected to follow up on four different MCU projects, including three Disney+ shows, namely WandaVision, Ms. Marvel, and Secret Invasion. Of the three, WandaVision has gained significant attention due to its introduction of Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau, who first appeared as a child in Captain Marvel and is now returning as the superhero Photon, to team up with Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan.

The Marvels Trailer Spotlights WandaVision’s Monica Rambeau

Marvel Studios has released a new trailer featurette for The Marvels, scheduled for release in November 2022. The featurette showcases footage from WandaVision on Disney+ and highlights several pivotal moments from the nine-episode superhero sitcom. Monica Rambeau’s reappearance after The Blip is highlighted in the featurette. After returning to life, she learns of her mother’s passing during her five-year absence.

The trailer also shows Rambeau gaining her powers by powering her way through the Westview Hex, created by Wanda Maximoff. Rambeau explains that her newfound abilities, which debuted in the Disney+ show, allow her to manipulate the electromagnetic spectrum’s wavelengths.

The featurette commences with Captain Marvel flying through space with a Flerken, a cat-like alien species, discussing how her life becomes lonely.

She then teams up with Monica Rambeau and Ms. Marvel to fight against Zawe Ashton’s Kree villain Dar-Benn. Iman Vellaini’s Ms. Marvel (aka Kamala Khan) also gets her own chunk of the featurette, including her meeting with Carol Danvers, her superhero idol, as the pair exchanged a handshake.

How WandaVision Will Connect to Captain Marvel 2

The connection between WandaVision and The Marvels will mostly revolve around Monica Rambeau’s transition into the superhero Photon.

Wanda’s Hex has granted her light-based superpowers, which will likely be explored in the upcoming movie. The Marvels will focus on the interlinking of the powers of the all-female trio, resulting in the swapping of their places when used.

The Disney+ show also hinted at the tension between Rambeau and Carol Danvers, possibly due to her absence during Maria Rambeau’s passing and Monica’s five-year disappearance.

The post-credits scene of WandaVision revealed that Skrull had recruited Rambeau to work with Nick Fury at SABER, which will likely be explored in the movie. Disney+ currently streams WandaVision and Ms. Marvel, while The Marvels is set to release on November 10 in theaters.
